I am working on a project www.warondowry.com, the purpose of this site is to promote people to stop taking/asking for dowry. Of course this is one more attempt to curb dowry system. But it is different in a sense that we (Team WOD) don't believe that everybody who takes or asks for dowry is a criminal, we don't believe that punishing or hating them is a solution to this. Here we are looking to discuss the issue of Dowry at length. Many of us who really do not support this system end up accepting or providing it. Well most of the time we are either do not have the guts to stand up against our elder generation or are worried about future of our family members. Well folks i tell you what, WE NEED TO TALK. We need to talk to people who have taken dowry, the girls who had to go through a valuation and most of all to our elders. We need to search for answers.

We need to search for answers.One biggest cause for dowry is the financial situation of the families involved. Again there are financially healthy people who ask for or give dowry 'cause of status issue, its just ridiculous how people think when it comes to this issue. Imagination just runs out of range.
Well the website is still in the early stages, but there is nothing wrong for like minded people to get together. You can join an orkut community till then warondowry.
